Obama wins but...
California still isn't left enough to not ban same sex marriages. Tracy said my last post seemed a bit racist - and in a way it was meant to show racism, just not that I'm a racist. The point is most racism (and some other stuff) is reactionary. It was funny that Tracy missed, or misunderstood the minority and asked, "aren't there poor white people too?" Well, yes there are, in poor white neighborhoods who wouldn't be getting extra voting machines - however the blacks in middle class black neighborhoods would be. This wasn't about wealth, it was about race, and exactly what do you think the reaction of a white person who had to wait in line for hours to vote would be to know blacks got more voting machines so they wouldn't have to wait? The white guy doesn't have to be a racist to be pissed off because he was at a disadvantage because of his race but because he was discriminated against based on his race his anger is going to be directed at the other race that got favored. Things like affirmative action programs are reverse discrimination and people try to tell themselves that this is okay. It is not okay - we are taught at an early age, "two wrongs don't make a right", and these are two wrongs.
As far as California goes, I just don't get it. Even when I leaned a lot farther right than I do today I never had an issue with same sex partnerships. There was a post I made a while back that shows the "reactionary" point of view - I'm 100 percent for same sex partnerships to be treated equal and have all of the same rights as heterosexual relationships. But when a couple of lesbians want father's day removed because they don't have a father in their relationship that boils my blood. When is America going to get over this taboo of same sex relationships? The only reason you can be against it stems from religion. It's been obvious the majority of Americans have gotten past that since now days a group of kids pray in school the community is ready to burn them at the stake. So the underlying reason has to be more than religious. Is it fear? Fear of what? How does a same sex marriage harm anyone else in any way? I want to hear any reason someone would be against this other than religion.

Um, yeah...cause I'm not bright enough to know there's poor white people :P
I must've left my irony out too long and you missed it.
Gomer.

I wasn't sure. :) Poor white people as a group are the most racist - hence why Obama never had a chance in West Virginia even though it's a democratic state. I also don't think people in other parts of the country realize blacks aren't a minority everywhere. Much like Hawaii where whites are a minority I grew up in Richmond Virginia, where whites are a minority. I was one of he victims of bussing when I was in elementary school where the white kids were bussed to the inner city schools and the black kids were bussed to the outer city schools. Dividing us up and shipping us around based on race didn't solve anything.
